Amazon Music is now available on Android TV and Google TV

Having been exclusive to the Nvidia Shield since it launched on Android TV more than two years ago, the Amazon Music app is finally available to those with other Android TV and Google TV devices, on a worldwide basis.

If you’ve got a soundbar, set-top box or Android TV or Google TV television set you can now download the Amazon Music app to your device via the Play Store. It supports the paid subscription as well as the ad-supported plan, and is available to download in the US, Mexico, Canada, UK, Brazil, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, India, Japan, and Australia.

Does this mean we might see the YouTube Music app appear on Amazon’s Fire TV platform? Unknown, it would be nice if a little reciprocity was shown though, especially in this age of co-operation between Amazon and Google since their little spat a couple of years ago.

He’s been an Android fan ever since owning an HTC Hero, with the Dell Streak being his first phablet. He currently carries an OPPO Find X2 Pro in his pockets, a Galaxy Tab S5e in his backpack, and thinks nothing of lugging a 17-inch laptop around the world. When not immersed in the world of Android and gadgets, he’s an avid sports fan, and like all South Africans, he loves a good Braai (BBQ).
