Amazon is finally sending out invitations for consumers to purchase its new Echo Frames. Designed for all-day wear, the Echo Frames are compatible with most prescription eyeglasses, and ensure that you have Alexa, everywhere.
Here’s the invitation that Amazon is sending out to requests:
Your request for an invitation to purchase Echo Frames has been granted! We hope you’ll have as much fun using them as we did inventing them.
To accept this invitation, go to the Echo Frames detail page, add to cart, and purchase as usual. You will receive a notification when your order is ready to ship. Please note terms and conditions apply to the invitation only price and offer. Due to the high number of requests, this invitation will expire seven days after we’ve sent it to you.
By purchasing Echo Frames during this limited-release period, you agree to receive emails asking for your feedback on the product. As one of the first customers to use Echo Frames, your input will help drive future Echo Frames features.
If you receive the invite, you’ll be able to, for a limited time, purchase Echo Frames for $180 before they go up to $250 for the general public. For now, Echo Frames only support Android devices.
And even though this is essentially Alexa on your face — Amazon says that its open-ear technology directs sound to your ears and minimizes what others can hear. There are no cameras or displays here either — it’s essentially just the open microphone and speaker.
