Apple Gets Music Service Infringement Suit Kicked to California


Apple Inc. convinced an Illinois federal court to transfer a lawsuit accusing the company of infringing tech patents with its Apple Music service to California.

Greenlighting the tech giant’s motion for a venue change is in “the interest of justice,” the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said Thursday.

The decision spotlights how courts weigh venue questions in patent disputes.

Post Media Systems LLC, sued Apple in Illinois, alleging infringement of U.S. Patent Nos. 7,069,310; 7,472,175; 8,725,832; and 8,959,181, related to creating and posting media.
