Apple Might Add New Tracking Alert For AirTags

Apple is rumored to be gearing up to release its homegrown tracking device called AirTags sometime this year. But with the addition of the new location tech to its arsenal of cutting-edge products comes questions about user privacy and protection.

It appears that Apple is working to address these issues in its new iOS drop. According to 9To5Mac, developers of Apple’s newest operating system update have outfitted the Find My app — which allows Apple users to register and find lost devices — with enhanced safety features.

Apple blogger Benjamin Mayo tweeted a screenshot of the reported safeguard.

Mayo says Apple will use the feature to “prevent ‘stalking’ with AirTags.”

“If someone secretly hides a tag in your possessions, your phone will notice and warn you about it,” he added.

HYPEBEAST has reached out to Apple for comment.

It’s unclear when the new AirTags might be released or what they will look like. In January, SPIGEN‘s sub-label Cyrill posted — and quickly removed — keyring style protector designs for the as-of-yet unreleased AirTags.
