BitTorrent’s BTT Token Now Accepted As Payment For NordVPN Products
Privacy and security service provider NordVPN is now accepting BitTorrent’s BTT token as a payment method for users.
Founded in 2012, NordVPN services more than 8 million customers with security and privacy products. It has desktop applications for Windows, macOS, and Linux, mobile apps for Android and iOS, as well as an application for Android TV.
BTT, which raised $7.1 million in its initial coin offering (ICO) earlier this year, is a TRC-10 utility token based on the TRON blockchain. The token enables users to exchange tokens to improve BitTorrent network speed. BTT can also be exchanged for TRON (TRX) tokens through a decentralized exchange.
NordVPN said that BTT has been added alongside an exclusive list of digital assets it accepts as payment. To purchase NordVPN using BTT, users will have to vist NordVPN’s website, select a plan, then select “Crypto Currencies” from the payment methods.
“BitTorrent Speed and BTT soon will enhance our popular Windows-based µTorrent Classic client, creating a vibrant BitTorrent ecosystem,” said Justin Sun, founder of TRON and CEO of BitTorrent. “The feature will allow over 100 million users to earn BTT, which can be spent as digital currency for many online products and services. We are proud to be working with providers in the privacy and security industry to accept BTT, and more exciting announcements are coming.”
