Check out how the OnePlus 7T looks in Gold

It wasn’t so long ago that our choice in smartphone finishes was limited to deciding whether to buy the handset in black or dark grey, but ever since Huawei launched its P30 Pro in the fancy Twilight gradient finish, brands have expanded their horizons. That doesn’t mean that every color scheme that is tested actually comes to market, though, just look at the snazzy OnePlus 7T above in that gold colorway that didn’t make the cut.

That gold finish is just one of the dozens of color schemes that OnePlus considered and discarded, in the end settling on Frosted Silver and Glacier Blue for the OnePlus 7T. OnePlus designer, Hao Ran, posted the image on the Chinese social network, Weibo, stating that it was her personal favorite design.

The prototype gold finish shows a more traditional, yellow hue as opposed to the rose or pink gold color schemes we’ve seen offered on smartphones in recent years. While OnePlus haven’t said if we can expect the OnePlus 7T to go on sale in gold or any other finish in the near future, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a new colorway announced in the next month or two before the OnePlus 8 is launched.
