Nubia Red Magic 5G hidden features

The Nubia Red Magic 5G is one of the newest gaming phones on the market. It’s a beast of a device, with a Snapdragon 865 CPU, up to 16GB of RAM, 5G connectivity, and a 144Hz refresh rate display. That’s on top of a 4500mAh battery with 55W fast charging, rounding out a phone that’s loaded with high-end specs.

But you know what makes great hardware even better? Cool hidden software features to go along with it.

Red Magic 5G hidden features

Some users of the Red Magic 5G have noticed that there are some hidden features that can be enabled with third-party apps on the phone. An app like Activity Launcher, for instance, can search for some extra features that aren’t readily available in the regular settings app.

This includes some things like new theme options to get rounded icons, changing your screen recording from SD to HD, accessing 8 different color modes for the display, and changing the screen refresh rate down to 120Hz from its 144Hz default mode.

This is all stuff that’s hidden away in Red Magic OS, Nubia’s customized build of Android 10. We’re not exactly sure why they didn’t make it into any final builds of the software, but if you’re really interested in accessing this stuff on your phone, just follow the instructions over on XDA Developers to get started.
