Dead Space remake announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

Dead Space is coming back, with a Dead Space remake officially announced during the EA Play Live 2021 presentation. As reported earlier this year, the game is a reimagining of the original Dead Space. It’s being built for modern platforms, taking advantage of the hardware in the newest game consoles and modern PCs. You can check out the teaser trailer below:

This remake is being developed by Motive Studios, the team responsible for Star Wars: Squadrons, as well as support work on other EA titles like Star Wars: Battlefront 2. According to the report from earlier this year, this remake was heavily inspired by Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake.

Prior to this revival, the last game in the franchise was Dead Space 3. While generally received positively, the Dead Space 3 failed to meet EA’s sales expectations and saw more mixed reception compared the widely-praised Dead Space and Dead Space 2. Visceral Games went on to work on Battlefield: Hardline, as well as a Star Wars adventure game that was canceled, with the studio closed in 2017.
