Eli, Peyton Manning introduce eight-piece NFT collection

New York Giants legend Eli Manning and his equally famous brother, Peyton, will become the latest sports icons to enter the space of digital artwork when they debut an eight-piece nonfungible token (NFT) collection next week.

“The Manning Legacy Collection” will be revealed on April 16 and will feature Eli’s famous pass to David Tyree in Super Bowl XLII and Peyton’s “Omaha” audible, reports Sportico.

In typical Eli fashion, he tweeted out some of his own “artwork” on Wednesday and later compared it to some of Peyton’s.

In reality, four of the pieces will be designed by visionary artist Joseph Ari Aloi aka JK5, digitized, minted as NFTs and then auctioned off on MakersPlace.

“For our collection, we wanted to curate one-of-a-kind fine artwork for the NFT community,” Peyton said in a press release. “Collaborating with JK5, Micah Johnson and their teams gave us the opportunity to handcraft each individual piece so that they are truly unique to us and elevate the creative for the growing collectors base.”

“We see the future of NFTs as collectibles and their staying power for years to come,” Eli added. “We are excited to be entering the space to not only give fans exclusive artwork but also utilize proceeds to help causes close to our hearts.”

Micah Johnson, a former professional baseball player (White Sox, Dodgers and Braves) and successful NFT artist, will complete the eight-piece collection along with his team. The final four pieces will honor the Manning’s charitable initiatives, including “Eli’s work with Tackle Kids Cancer and Peyton’s dedication to the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent.”

Both organizations will benefit from the auction of these NFTs as well as any future secondary sales.
