Women are underrepresented in tech, but Apple hopes to change that. On Monday, it began taking applications for an Entrepreneur Camp for female founders and developers to be held summer of 2021.

Previous such camps have been in Apple’s home town of Cupertino, but this one will be online because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Research shows that women face unique challenges in technology, Apple says. That’s especially true when starting and leading companies. That’s why it created the Entrepreneur Camp with a goal to helping entrepreneurs as they build companies and software.

Benefits of the Apple Entrepreneur Camp

This is a rare opportunity. “Attendees receive code-level guidance, mentorship, and inspiration with unprecedented access to Apple engineers and leaders,” the company promises. That includes ongoing support from an Apple Developer representative for at least a year, as well as a year of access to the Apple Developer Program.

Another of the goals to to put entrepreneurs in touch with each other to form a global network through the Entrepreneur Camp alumni network.

The event runs online from July 20, 2021 to July 29, 2021. The iPhone-maker is taking applications starting February 22 and running until March 26, 2021.

To qualify, attendees must have a female founder, cofounder, or CEO; a female developer proficient in Swift or Objective-C; and an app they can demo live. These two attendees, along with a third of any gender, must be adults and able to attend together for the entire duration of the program.

More information about the camp is available on Apple’s website for developers.

previous session for women was held in late 2018. And the program reaches out to other groups underrepresented in Tech. Its first Apple Entrepreneur Camp for Black Founders and Developers kicks off soon, for example. e344w
