HiSense has just announced a whopping 25 (twenty-five) brand new televisions as part of its 2021 lineup, including a bunch of models running Android TV or Roku OS with ULED picture technology. There’s also a short-throw projector making its debut with Android TV and 4K resolution. We’ve got the details of the more notable new arrivals after the break as well as a funny video hosted by a Community alum who goes through the HiSense lineup for 2021. It’s really funny, and well, you’ll see.
U9DG
First up is what could be considered the practical flagship of the new models, the 75-inch U9DG, which boasts up to 1,000 nits brightness with 2 million dimming zones, and sports Android TV smarts with the Google Assistant built-in. It isn’t an OLED in case you were wondering but it does have 4K resolution with what HiSense calls ‘Quantum Dot Color’ and 120Hz variable refresh rate. The U9DG supports a bunch of abbreviations such as HDR10+, HLG, IMAX enhanced, FreeSync, as well as eARC and WISA. Available during the summer, the HiSense U9DG will come with a $3,500 price tag.
U800GR
Next is the U800GR that I would consider the conceptual flagship with 8K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and Quantum Dot Color technology. With 1,000 nit brightness, 180 local dimming zones, and 8K upscaling, the U800GR will only be available in 75-inch size. Other notable features include Dolby Vision Atmos, AirPlay 2 support, and the presence of Roku OS. Just like the U9DG, the U800GR will only go on sale sometime during the summer and will probably not be cheap.
U8G
Coming in 55 and 65-inch sizes, the more affordable U8G is priced at $950 and $1,300 respectively, and will go on sale sometime before the end of May. Also sporting 4K resolution, the U8G also uses ULED technology and supports Dolby Vision IQ, a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1,500 nits of peak brightness, eARC, HDR10+, and WISA support. The smart features are provided by Android TV which means that the Google Assistant is baked-in.
U6G
With prices ranging from $500 to $1,100, the U6G will come in 50-, 55-, 65-, and 75-inch sizes with up to 60 full-array local dimming zones, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG compatibility, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. Providing the smarts is Android TV, and voice commands are supported by the remote control.
L5F Ultra Short-throw Lazer Cinema Projector
Finally, we have the L5F Ultra Short-throw Lazer Cinema capable of putting out a 120-inch image in 4K resolution with images that exceed the standard 4K color range. There are built-in speakers with dbx-TV cinematic sound with the smarts provided by Android TV. The L5’s blue laser light source is said to produce razor-sharp images with stunning details and is suited for watching sports, fast-moving movies, and gaming. The L5 Ultra Short-throw Lazer Cinema projector is already on sale for just $5,000.
