How Military Members and Veterans Can Get a Free Apple Music Subscription

Military members and veterans can get up to four free months of Apple Music — but they need to sign up soon.

The deal was initially rolled out in early July and is now set to expire August 1, 2021. That means veterans and service members who want the freebie need to sign-up through Apple’s link by that date to get the Apple Music military discount.

The discount lets news users who have never before had an Apple Music subscription get four free months and all others get one free month. Subscriptions are typically $9.99 per month for regular users, while some groups, such as students, can get half off. Go here to get the discount.

Like many online veteran discounts and portions of the Department of Veteran Affairs system, the deal verifies eligibility through the ID.me system.

To sign-up users first click through and log in with ID.me, click to sign-up after reading the small print and then are redirected to music.apple.com or, if using an Apple device, the Apple Music app. Once there, they register using their iTunes account.

Like any discount, the Apple Music veteran and military discount could be glitchy for some users. For example, while the offer says new users get four free months and all others get one free month, it does not appear to work if you currently have an active Apple Music subscription.

Once the free period expires, users will automatically be bumped into the paid subscription unless they first cancel.

The Apple Music veteran discount isn’t the only military or veteran discount Apple offers. A separate Apple military discount gives military members and veterans 10% off most electronics and accessories both online and in stores.
