Capcom may have moved on to new projects like Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. But Monster Hunter World: Iceborne still has some life in it yet. Ever since the PC version launched, its passionate fanbase has been creating mods to breathe new life into Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. These Monster Hunter World: Iceborne PC mods range from quality-of-life improvements, new weapons, new armor, and even bringing in monsters from other franchises.

Before you go downloading the mods, you will need to make a Nexus account. Once you are done, you will need to download these essential mods to ensure the rest of the mods on this list work. First up is Stracker’s Loader by Stracker. This mod allows all mod files to load from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s nativePC folder.

VPN Deals: Lifetime license for $16, monthly plans at $1 & more

The next essential mod to download is the Performance Booster and Plugin Extender mod by AsterickAmpersand. This mod improves the game’s performance and enables advanced plug-ins to function more effectively.

And finally, there’s the Tic Rate Fix mod by AsterickAmpersand. This fixes a bug in the game where if your game isn’t at 60fps, attacks with multiple tics of damage won’t occur properly.

With those essential mods out of the way, let’s get into the fun stuff.

Best Monster Hunter World: Iceborne mods Weapon mods

This section focuses on mods that change the look of a weapon or gives them special effects.

    No More Slap On Weapons

Monster Hunter World Iceborne ModSource: twjon on Nexus

Let’s start things off with a huge mod pack that addresses one of the biggest criticisms towards this game — weapon designs. Monster Hunter is known for over-the-top, badass, and sometimes goofy weapon and armor designs. While all the armor sets looked fantastic, the weapon designs took a quantity over quality approach. Half of the weapon designs were unique, and the other half recycled the same Iron or Bone weapon and slapped a piece of the monster’s meat on them.

Fans hated these slap-on designs not just because they felt they were lazy but also because these weapons replaced classic weapon designs from previous games. Many weapons from fan-favorite monsters like Yian Garuga, Nargacuga, Brachydios, Zinogre, and Tigrex did not make it into Monster Hunter World: Iceborne as a result.

One man by the username of twjon decided to fix that with the No More Slap On Weapons mod. This mod replaces every slap-on weapon design with weapons from the old games and brand-new models made entirely from scratch.

The mod comes in two flavors — the Weapon Tree version and the Part Replacer version.

The Weapon Tree version is for those starting a new save file and want to see each new weapon as they progress until they unlock the Layered Weapons feature. The mod attempts to stick to Capcom’s original by keeping the slap on parts weapons early on and then having their modded designs be the weapon’s final form.

Once you reach the endgame and unlock Layered Weapons, you can switch to the Parts Replacer version. This version has more modded designs hidden away in the Layered Weapon augments you would not find in the Weapon Tree Version.

Keep in mind that both versions have some minor technical issues that can’t be fixed due to the way the game is made. For example, the Weapon Tree version lacks some sound effects for the weapons, and the Parts Replacer version has removed some glowing effects for the modded weapons.

This mod is amazing. The sheer amount of effort that twjon poured into reworking every single weapon design is astounding. If you want all your weapons to look as good as your armor, this mod is for you.

    Glavenus greatsword

Monster Hunter World Iceborne ModSource: WarlordSieck on Nexus

The MHW Iceborne Glavenus Family Greatsword HD Restoration mod by WarlordSieck changes the Glavenus greatsword in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne to its original design from Monster Hunter Generations. It gives the Acidic Glavenus his own version of the greatsword. The cherry on top of this mod is that both Glavenus greatswords come with a special effect when you charge up the attacks.

    Frostmourne

Monster Hunter World Iceborne ModSource: quantumworx on Nexus

Unleash the power of the Lich King with the Frostmourne (CB — GS — LS) mod by quantumworx. This mod grants you Frostmourne, the Lich King’s iconic weapon from World of Warcraft as a Greatsword, a Longsword, and a Charge Blade.

    Valstrax Weapons

These mods may belong to a monster not currently modded into the game yet, but it would be an injustice not to highlight these gorgeous weapons by Akinusuka. These weapons belong to Valstrax, the flagship monster of Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. They have been remade in HD for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and include special effects which emulate Valstrax’s rocket-propelled wings. Currently Akinusuka has made mods for the Valstrax greatsword, switch axe, and hammer. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing more mods of Valstrax’s gear and maybe Valstrax himself in the future.

Best Monster Hunter World: Iceborne mods Armor mods

These mods focus on cosmetic gear that lets you play as characters from other franchises or redesigns existing armor sets.

Fierce Deity Link from The Legend of Zelda

Monster Hunter World IceborneSource: Windows Central

From the Fields of Hyrule comes Link from The Legend of Zelda series, specifically Fierce Deity Link from Majora’s Mask. This is possible through the combination of two mods — the Fierce Deity Link mod by skyward10 and the Adult OoT — Fierce Deity voice over Geralt mod by Aisu0505.

These mods replace the Geralt armor set with the Hyrule Warriors model of Fierce Deity Link and swap Geralt’s voice with Link’s iconic voice from Ocarina of Link. As a bonus, the Fierce Deity Link mod comes packaged with a mod that replaces the look of Guild Palace Longsword with the double helix sword Fierce Deity Link used in Majora’s Mask.

    2B from NieR: Automata

Monster Hunter World Iceborne ModSource: UberGrainy on Nexus

Bring glory to mankind with The NieR Automata — YoRHa No 2 Type B and Pod 042 (Post-Iceborne) mod by UberGrainy. This mod replaces the Ciri armor set with 2B and replaces the Moogle or Shara Ishvalda Palico armor sets with Pod 042 from NieR: Automata.

The 2B armor set disables voice lines, but that can be fixed with the SCVI — Nier Automata — YoRHa No 2 Type B (2B) Voice Mod – Iceborne by ItsBurpee. This mod implements 2B’s voice clips from Soul Calibur VI while wearing the modded armor. If we’re lucky, we may see NieR Replicant mods in the future for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.

    2019-2020 CUREDOSIN MOD Pack

Monster Hunter World Iceborne ModSource: CUREDOSIN on Nexus

CUREDOSIN has redesigned many armor sets, weapons, and NPCs to have a darker, gothic aesthetic. The 2019-2020 CUREDOSIN MOD Pack compiles a great deal of CUREDOSIN’s work into one package.

Best Monster Hunter World: Iceborne mods Quality of life and graphics mods

These are mods that offer improvements to visuals and gameplay.

    • The Reduce or Remove Bloom mod by NSACloud2 allows you to adjust the bloom effects so you can see things more clearly.

    • The Dropped Items efx mod by IIICrimsonIII places a large visual indicator where you can pick up slinger ammo and dropped materials.

    • The Blood efx mod by IIICrimsonIII will allow you to change the color of the critical hit effects and add in blood effects. This mod will certainly please fans of the older Monsters Hunter games that missed blood effects that didn’t make it into Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.

    • The True Weapon Damage Values mod by Stracker will allow you to see a weapon’s true attack power. In Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, the attack power displayed for all the weapons classes vastly differed from one another. These bloated stats confused new players into thinking some weapon classes were better than others. This mod removes the bloated number, so you now have a better idea of each weapon class’s attack power.

    • The No FOG when ELDERS spawn in the GUIDING LANDS 3.0 mod by gatomiau removes the distracting fog that appears whenever an Elder Dragon is in the Guiding Lands.

    Music mods

These mods replace Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s in-game soundtrack with soundtracks from other franchises.

    • If you want to add some nostalgia to your hunts, check out the Classic Monster Hunter Series Music Replacement (for Iceborne) by Mizu20. These include songs from the original PlayStation 2 Monster Hunter game all the way up to Monster Hunter Generations on the Nintendo 3DS.

    • If you are wearing the 2B armor set mod, you can install the NieR Music Pack (Post Iceborne) mod by BeesKneesMan to add extra NieR immersion. This mod replaces Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s entire game’s soundtrack with NieR; Automata’s soundtrack (while sneaking in a few surprises).

    • The Attack on Titan — Music Pack mod by GranJavert replaces the soundtrack with music from the hit anime series, Attack on Titan.

    • The Fantasia Ultima (A Final Fantasy-Inspired BGM Overhaul) mod by FateEX replaces in the in-game soundtrack with music from the Final Fantasy series, Kingdom Hearts series, NieR series, and a few tracks from various anime series.

Best Monster Hunter World: Iceborne mods Monster mods

These mods allow you to fight brand-new monsters, some of which reward new gear to fight for.

    Gobul

Monster Hunter World Iceborne ModSource: WarlordSieck on Nexus

The Gobul The Abyssal Assassin For ICEBORNE by WarlordSieck replaces the Great Jagras with the Gobul, a Leviathan-type monster from Monster Hunter Tri. This giant puffer/angler fish hybrid retains Great Jagras’ moveset and has an extra attack where it blinds its prey using the lamp lure on its head. There isn’t any unique gear for Gobul at this time, but the modder does have plans to create some in the future.

    Bulldrome

Monster Hunter World Iceborne ModSource: LyraVeil on Nexus

LyraVeil has brought back one of the most dreaded monsters in the whole series, the Bulldrome. The Returning Monster Bulldrome and Bullfangos (armors weapons and a statue included) mod brings back the Bulldrome and its smaller brethren, the Bullfangos into Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. These wild boars are notorious for constantly interrupting fights in previous games by repeatedly charging at the player and monsters. If you defeat these swine, you will be rewarded with Bulldrome-themed weapons and armor, as well as a statue for your in-game bedroom.

    Chocobos

Monster Hunter World Iceborne ModSource: LyraVeil on Nexus

The Wild Chocobos mod by LyraVeil replaces the Kestodons and Gastodons with yellow and red Chocobos from the Final Fantasy series. These creatures can help add extra immersion for the Final Fantasy XIV collaboration quests. Unfortunately, they don’t have any unique weapons or armor to obtain.

    The Marauder from Doom Eternal

Monster Hunter World Iceborne ModSource: LyraVeil on Nexus

The Doom Eternal X Monster Hunter World A Fanmade Crossover mod by LyraVeil mod pits you up against the Marauder from Doom Eternal, the most dangerous demon Doom Slayer had ever faced. The mod takes the Ancient Leshen’s skeleton and puts in the Marauder’s model over it without replacing the Ancient Leshen’s quest. This is because the Leshen’s move-sets are pretty similar to the Marauder’s. They can both teleport, they can summon minions, and hit like trucks.

If you can defeat the Marauder, you will be rewarded with DOOM-themed weapons and armor.

    The White Fatalis

Monster Hunter World Iceborne ModSource: Akinusuka on Nexus

If you thought Fatalis was the hardest monster Monster Hunter World: Iceborne had to offer, then brace yourself for the White Fatalis. This is a Fatalis that has lived for so long, its scales have turned white with age and has grown a full beard. What makes White Fatalis more dangerous than the regular one is it has replaced its ability to breath fire with the ability to conjure Dragon elemental lightning.

With the combined effort by a team of modders under the name MHWResurgence Team, White Fatalis has returned to destroy the New World in the Returning Monster — White Fatalis mod, uploaded by Akinusuka.

Monster Hunter World Iceborne ModSource: Akinusuka on Nexus

This mod isn’t just a re-skin of the regular Fatalis, it’s an entirely reworked fight. They managed to implement White Fatalis’ mechanics and hitzone values from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate into Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Upon slaying the ancient beast, you will be rewarded with transmog weapons and gear themed after White Fatalis.

All of these incredible mods goes to show how impactful Monster Hunter World: Iceborne was to garner so much fan support. If you like the mods showcased here, you can download them and many more mods on Nexus. Happy Hunting!
