The My Disney Experience app has received an update this week. Apple and Android users are able to download the update from their respective app store. The My Disney Experience app is used to perform tasks before and during trips to the Walt Disney World Resort. The app is used to unlock resort doors, place mobile food orders, and check attraction wait times, among many other features.
The most significant update is for iPhone users only. The app now uses the “Precise Location” feature of iOS 14. After the My Disney Experience app update, guests are able to accept location services features.
The updates do not appear to address recent glitches with boarding groups for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
The update includes the following new features:
1) New Sign-In and Account Management System
The My Disney Experience app has a new sign-in, registration, and account management system, offering many enhancements and fixes from the previous system.
The sign in screen interface is slightly changed from the previous version.
2) New “Forgot Password” option
This option allows Guests with verified mobile phone numbers to be sent a one-time-use code to sign-in to the app. Account Sign-In Notifications will be sent when the Guest signs in from a new device for added security.
3) Use of “Precise Location” option for iOS 14 users:
This update includes support for the new “Precise Location” setting in iOS 14. Guests who have turned OFF “Precise Location” may see a prompt to enable the setting if they try to use any of these features:
- “Locate Me” feature in Finder Map
- Wayfinding/Get Directions
- Dine Walk-Up/Reservation Check-In
These features will be unavailable if “Precise Location” is turned off.
All Guests will be required to sign-in again once they install My Disney Experience app version 6.4. After signing-in, Guests can set up biometric sign-in systems, such as Touch ID and Face ID.
The app’s home screen remains unchanged.
