Just two days after The Sinking City developer Frogwares published an in-depth post alleging that publisher Nacon pirated The Sinking City to publish on Steam, Nacon is firing back, denying Frogwares’ allegations and accusing the developer of acting in “bad faith” by not allowing The Sinking City to be available on Steam.
Nacon’s statement indicates that Nacon has paid all fees and royalties due to Frogwares, while also stating that The Sinking City was not pirated in order to port to Steam. Instead, Nacon states that a clause in its contract with Frogwares allowed the hiring of a third-party to port the game to Steam, though no exact details for this clause are given.
Nacon further alleges that “By encouraging the gaming community via Twitter not to buy the game on STEAM, FROGWARES is once again sabotaging our investments in the game” and that Nacon is reserving the right to take legal action against Frogwares for its “aggressive and prejudicial comments.”
Currently, The Sinking City is no longer available on Steam, with the game removed via a DMCA filed by Frogwares, as confirmed by Valve. We’ll continue to provide updates as the legal conflict between Frogwares and Nacon continues.
