OnePlus 6 and 6T owners have a while to wait until the Android 11 update begins rolling out

Having initially been omitted by OnePlus in its Android 11 update schedule, the OnePlus 6 and 6T were later added to the list of handsets set to receive the OS upgrade. At the time, no details were given on when OnePlus 6 and 6T owners could expect to see their handsets updates but the Chinese brand has now announced a rough date on when this might occur. Brace yourselves, it’s going to be a while.

How long is a while, I hear you ask? Well, in this case, it would appear that a ‘while’ is the period of time between now and the end of August. And that’s for the first Open Beta build of Android 11 for the OnePlus 6/6T phones, not the stable release, according to a Q&A post on the OnePlus forums.

Q: When will the OnePlus 6 and 6T receive the OxygenOS 11 update?
A: The Android 11 Open Beta version for the OnePlus 6 & 6T is scheduled to be released at the end of August, please stay tuned for our Community posts for more details.”

With the first Android 11 Open Beta likely to roll out during August, it could be sometime during Q4 when the stable build is eventually released to the OnePlus 6 and 6T. It’s a long time to wait for the bump in OS versions, although at least the two handsets will eventually get the update, which is more than can be said for many other three-year old handsets from other brands.
