The website for Parler, the conservative-friendly social media platform, was back online on Sunday — with a message for the company’s “lovers and haters.”
“Hello world, is this thing on?” Parler CEO John Matze wrote on the website, above a note from the company saying the platform would be restored after challenges were resolved.
“Now seems like the right time to remind you all — both lovers and haters — why we started this platform,” the note read.
“We believe privacy is paramount and free speech essential, especially on social media. Our aim has always been to provide a nonpartisan public square where individuals can enjoy and exercise their rights to both.”
Amazon Web Services suspended Parler from its servers last Sunday, in the wake of the deadly US Capitol riot, effectively taking the website offline unless it found a new company to host its services.
The company filed a lawsuit Monday accusing Amazon of breach of contract and violating an antitrust law over the tech titan’s decision to stop hosting the site.
In response, Amazon said it repeatedly warned Parler about its users’ violent posts and that the company failed to promptly remove them.
Google Play and Apple also removed the company’s app from its stores.
Parler’s app is still unavailable for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play on Sunday.
