Plex partners with Lionsgate to bring ad-supported movies to users worldwide

Plex and Lionsgate announced a new partnership this morning that will allow users to watch ad-supported content around the globe. Plex users will be able to watch movies, shows, and other premium content for free. Unlike Plex’s deal with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution which is restricted to U.S. users, the Lionsgate deal provides content for users everywhere. Plex did point out that individual pieces of content might be restricted in specific countries.

Plex is a media streaming app that’s available on a wide variety of platforms. It allows users to stream their personal library of content, including movies, TV shows, and photos. It can also be used to watch Live TV and DVR. Recently, Plex expanded the type of content available through the service by entering the ad-supported video space. Its first partnership was with Warner Bros., though that deal was limited to U.S. users.

Plex recently retired its Microsoft Store app, but released a new Windows app that the company feels is more capable. Plex also has apps on just about every platform, including Android, iOS, Roku, and TiVo. You can check if your platform of choice is supported on Plex’s website.
