When it comes to car holders for smartphones and tablets, ProClip has earned the reputation for being the cream of the crop. With custom mounts for just about every vehicle, users can buy custom holders for their phones (or tablets). This ability lets people upgrade their phones while keeping the car mount the same.
Microsoft’s Surface Duo poses some challenges for car mounts due to its unique dual-screen design that is exceptionally thin. Now, ProClip has released three separate holders custom made for Surface Duo. These mounts include:
- Standard Holder ($94.99)
- Charging Holder with USB Cigarette Lighter Adapter ($139.99)
- Charging Holder with Dual USB Hard-Wired Power Supply ($174.99)
The features of the Surface Duo mount include some unique features that can’t be found elsewhere:
- Custom-fit for the bare device or the device with bumper.
- Holds the device in the open, folded, or closed positions.
- Includes a USB-C Cable and hard-wired power supply.
- Includes Tilt-Swivel to angle holder 15 degrees any direction
- Made in Sweden from High-Grade ABS Plastic
- Combine with a ProClip vehicle mount to make a full mounting solution
As these mounts are custom for Surface Duo, the ability to mount with or without the bumper and open, closed, or folded is crucial.
On top of the above phone mount, users will still need to buy the car mount, which is custom made for the vehicle selected.
ProClip’s prices are relatively high, but they are well worth it. I’ve had ProClip for years (see my coverage of their wireless car mount for the Nokia Lumia 920) and the company is exceptionally good at standing behind their products while also creating custom designs for just about everything. As noted, these mounts are made in Sweden, and while a bit bespoke, are worth it if you are a fan of Microsoft’s Surface Duo.
It’s worth mentioning that ProClips also have custom car holders for various other Microsoft devices, including Surface Pro 3 through Surface Pro 7 and Surface Go.
We’ll about getting a review sample to go into more detail about how well this mount works.
Thanks, Rick N., for the heads up!
