Quebec-headquartered car-buying website HGregoire and HGreg.com will now let customers buy cars in cryptocurrency like Bitcoin.
“Our desire to constantly evolve and improve our customers’ shopping experience inspires us to make bold decisions. Providing them with a greater variety of payment methods is part of it,” said Hgreg president John Hairabedian.
“We’re pleased today to be at the forefront of technology, giving our customers another payment option. We also believe it will be advantageous to keep some of our assets in cryptocurrency.”
HGreg is a completely online sales company in operation since 1993, and has been attempting to revolutionize car buying by offering a completely online shopping experience.
The company has already made a few sales using the new type of currency, and explains that transactions made with the digital tender will be as secure as those paid with any other sort of money.
HGreg operates 30 car dealerships in North America, 21 of which are in Quebec, and offers both new and pre-owned vehicles. Currently, one Bitcoin is equal to about CDN$61,500.
