Quntis Screenbar Laptop Lamp review: Keep your PC keys illuminated

One of the most annoying issues you can run into while using your laptop is dim environment lighting or nighttime darkness. Not having good lighting makes using your keyboard very difficult, and while the backlit keys found on the best Windows laptops help solve this problem, not every device has the feature. Additionally, it can still often be straining on your eyes to look at backlit keys in the dark. Therefore, dedicated lighting accessories are very valuable. One such accessory I recently tried out is the Quntis Screenbar Laptop Lamp, which is essentially a clip-on reading light designed for laptops. While I’m not the biggest fan of its USB-A connection method, the lamp nevertheless still provides excellent lighting and lighting options for an affordable price, making it a great choice if you’re in need of a way to illuminate your keys.

The best thing about the Quntis screen bar light is the, well, light. Its 54 LEDs are bright enough for the lamp to keep your laptop keyboard illuminated effectively in dark environments, but they’re not too bright and won’t distract you or hurt your eyes while you’re using your device. There are plenty of different ways you can tweak the light to meet your personal preferences as well; for color, you can choose between a warm yellow-tinted white light, a cool blue-tinted white light, and natural white light. You can also choose between several different brightness settings ranging from 10 percent to 100 percent brightness.

Secondly, the lamp can be tilted 45 degrees, which is a very helpful feature that ensures you’ll be able to light up whatever part of your keyboard you need to without issue. Notably, this never results in light bouncing off your laptop display since the lamp extends slightly in front of the screen.

Finally, the lamp’s simple clip-on attachment method means that this lamp will work on pretty much every laptop out there. This means that you don’t have to worry about compatibility concerns, and you’ll also be able to use the lamp with future devices you buy too.

Quntis Laptop Lamp: What I don’t like

The only issue I have with the Quntis Screenbar Laptop Lamp is that it can only be connected with USB-A. This port used to be a common sight on laptops, but in recent years, USB-C has slowly been replacing it. This means that the lamp will require the use of a USB-C to A adapter or a USB-A AC adapter if you own recent devices that don’t have USB-A built-in (I had to do this for the lamp to work with my Dell XPS 13). It’s not a huge problem, but it’s worth mentioning.

Quntis Laptop Lamp: Should you buy?

While the reliance on the aging USB-A port is a bit annoying, the Quntis Screenbar Laptop Lamp is nevertheless a superb laptop lamp that has very efficient lighting and plenty of cool lighting options. The adjustable light angle and clip-on attachment method means that the accessory is very versatile and flexible, too.
