Samsung’s Thermal Guardian app will let you throttle your phone’s processor (or run it a little hotter)

Have you ever thought that your phone was just too darn fast? Probably not, but it’s far more likely that you’ve noticed that your battery is close to running on empty and even Ultra-Power-Saver mode isn’t really helping. If so, Samsung has your back with its new Thermal Guardian function that gives you the ability to both decrease and increase the CPU performance, ever so slightly.

The Thermal Guardian module will let you run the processor up to two degrees cooler or two degrees warmer than the default setting. Keep in mind that cranking the processor up by a couple of degrees isn’t going to turn your Exynos 990 chipset into the Snapdragon 865+ processor, but it may smooth things out a little on older chipsets.

You’ll need to download the Galaxy Labs app from Samsung’s Galaxy Store (Link) to your device, open the app and then download the Thermal Guardian module to tweak your phone’s performance.

As mentioned, it’s not going to turn your phone into a benchmarking monster, but it might make your experience a little smoother or perhaps squeeze out a little more battery life.
