Pirates, prepare yourselves, as the next monthly update for Sea of Thieves has been detailed: Dark Relics. In this update, crews of pilfering, plotting, potentially problematic skeletons have stolen relics from the Order of Souls. As such, the Order is paying handsome bounties for anyone willing to undergo dangerous voyages and retrieve these artifacts. There are five different types of relics to find: the Enchantment Vessel, Hexing Skull, Evil Eye, Mutinous Effigy and Bewitching Doll.

It’s not all limited-time quests and cosmetics though, as there are some nifty features here to stay. For starters, a mysterious new chest type is showing up in sunken ships, a chest that is extremely valuable but can be seen anywhere on the map due to its tendency to shoot pillars of color into the skies. The next change that’s here to stay regards the unassuming rowboat: some genius decided that they need harpoon guns. Do with this information what you will.
There are also some other tweaks, like improved hit detection and matchmaking for Arena players. For more information on Dark Relics you can check out Rare’s fulle post. As with all Xbox Game Studios titles, Sea of Thieves is included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
