Square Enix at E3 2021: Game reveals, trailers, and everything announced

    Square Enix held its official E3 2021 showcase on Sunday, where the company showed off a ton of new games and had plenty of information regarding titles we’ve already seen. New titles like Eidos’ Guardians of the Galaxy, Final Fantasy Origin, and the Life is Strange: True Colors were showcased.

    You can take a look at all the major announcements from Square Enix’s E3 2021 showcase below.

    Marvel’s Gurdians of the Galaxy

    After being rumored for the better part of a month, Square Enix opened its show with a look at Eidos Interactive’s Guardians of the Galaxy game. Releasing on Oct. 26, 2021, the game sees players taking on the role of Peter “Star-Lord” Quill,as he and his band of Guardians travel across the galaxy looking for adventures, solving problems, and getting into tons of hijinx in the process. Unlike Marvel’s Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy is billed as a single-player, story-driven game, so don’t expect the same gameplay.

    Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster

    The first six Final Fantasy games are among some of the best role-playing games of all time, and they’re now getting the remastered treatment — well, sort of. During the showcase, Square Enix debuted a trailer for Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, a collection of the first six Final Fantasy games that are set to be touched up. It’s unclear just what will be changing about the games, but the collection is coming soon to Steam, iOS, and Android devices.

    Legend of Mana

    Fans have been anxiously awaiting news of the Legend of Mana remaster, and during Square Enix’s E3 2021 showcase, they got some. A brand new trailer for the upcoming remaster was shown, giving players a better look at the colorful cast of characters, the changes and improvements to the real-time combat of the game, and the ability to alternate between the original games music or the new, rearranged soundtrack. Legend of Mana launches on June 24, 2021.

    Marvel’s Avengers

    Square Enix continued to show off its plans to support Marvel’s Avengers, detailing at E3 2021 the latest expansion to the game centered around Black Panther. Titled Black Panther: War for Wakanda, the expansion will focus on the iconic superhero as he defends Wakanda from Klaw, who seeks to steal Vibranium for his own desires. Better yet, the expansion will be free for all players when it launches in August 2021.

    Hitman Sniper: The Shadows

    The Hitman franchise is no stranger to the world of mobile games, with the extremely popular Hitman GO having launched in 2014. Now, a brand new mobile entry is on the way. Hitman Sniper: The Shadows was shown off at E3 2021. In a surprise twist for the series, Hitman Sniper: The Shadows introduces a wholly original story set in the Hitman Universe, focusing on events following the disappearance of Agent 47. The game will follow the story of The Shadows, a group of highly skilled snipers who are tasked with following and taking down a new criminal network that threatens global stability.

    NieR Reincarnation

    The world of NieR continues to grow. Not much is known about the game, but it will mark the first mobile entry in the NieR series, and players can pre-register to get the chance to play now.

    War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius x Final Fantasy Collaboration

    Alongside the news of an anniversary celebration, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is also partnering with War of the Visions: Final Fantasy in a special collaboration event. Starting June 16 and running through July 13, players have the chance to summon the limited-time UR unit, as well as enjoy a login bonus that nets them up to 2,500 Visiore (in-game currency) and much more. Players who log into the game during the first week of the collaboration will also get a special one-day only UR Guaranteed Free 10x Summon every day.

    Final Fantasy Brave Exvius

    The fifth anniversary of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is here, and with it comes a huge celebration. Square Enix announced that a special countdown campaign for the mobile title begins on June 17, and will feature a free 10+1 Summon for all players, with one guaranteed 5-star/Neo Vision unit during the event as well. Players who partake in the upcoming anniversary celebration will also receive a free, Global Original Final Fantasy Brave Exvius character, a 5-star version of Elena, for a limited time.

    Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier

    Announced earlier this year, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier is a mobile battle royale that throws players into the world of Final Fantasy VII. Playing as an elite Shinara soldier, you’ll drop into a map and have to outlast other players en route to a victory. Unlike other battle royale titles, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier allows players to farm material and weapons by taking part in single-player style combat against CPU enemies while also duking it out against real players.

    Babylon’s Fall

    Developed in partnership with PlatinumGames Inc., Babylon’s Fall is a co-op combat title that looks to give players non-stop action. In a brief trailer for the game, players were seen teaming up to take on some unique enemies, including demonic looking knights, dragons, and magic wielding sorcerors. According to Square Enix, Babylon’s Fall aims to give players a more in-depth experience than the traditional hack and slash games they may be used to.

    Life is Strange Remastered Collection

    The original Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm are getting the remastered treatment. Both award-winning games have been remastered with completely updated visuals across both the environments and characters.

    Life is Strange: True Colors

    After announcing Life is Strange: True Colors earlier this year, a brand new trailer for the game was shown during Square Enix’s showcase. When her brother dies in a suspicious accident, Alex must embrace her volatile power to find the truth out and uncover some very dark secrets from a small town. In a brief trailer for the game, players are introduced to some of the powers found in the game, as well as how the psychic power of Empathy affects every interaction and relationship Alex has.

    Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin

    Final Fantasy VII Remake veterans Tetsuya Nomura and Kazushige Nojima join forces once again for Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin. In collaboration with Team Ninja, this Souls-like game features locations and characters from the Final Fantasy universe. In a brief trailer for the game, we’re introduced to Jack and his allies, Ash and Jed, as they attempt to defeat “Chaos” and throw open the gates to the Chaos Shrine. A PS5 exclusive demo for the game is available for the game until June 24, 2021.
