In what can only be called impeccable timing, the latest edition of EA’s Madden game franchise is coming to Stadia this week. Starting from January 28, Madden NFL 21 will be available to play on Google’s game streaming service.

If you aren’t sure about picking up Madden NFL 21 you’ll be happy to note that its arrival on Stadia marks the beginning of a free weekend where gamers can play the title on any platform until January 31st. Once the free weekend comes to a close, EA says that it will put the Superstar Edition of Madden NFL 21 on sale with a 60% discount across all platforms until February 8th.

“EA SPORTS’ commitment to help fans experience sport in new ways is realized perfectly by the transformation of this year’s Pro Bowl to the virtual field of Madden NFL,” said David Tinson, CMO, Electronic Arts. “We’re further blurring the lines between reality and the virtual worlds of our games, creating new opportunities to connect fans through the sport they love.”

For the moment, there’s no word on how much Madden NFL 21 will cost on Stadia nor whether cross-platform multiplayer support will be supported. As for fans of the real football gaming title, FIFA, there’s no word on when soccer fans can look forward to it coming to Stadia just yet.

Madden NFL 21 is the first game to launch on Stadia using the Frostbite graphics engine, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that we can look forward to other games running on the Frostbite engine.
