A medical technology company and a charity are collaborating to eliminate medical debt in Nevada.
With donations to GetInsured, RIP plans to forgive $580,899 of medical debt statewide. RIP is a nonprofit that buys medical debt for pennies on the dollar to forgive it, and GetInsured is a provider of health insurance marketplace technology.
“Our goal is for all Nevadans to have access to high quality healthcare without financial distress,” said Chini Krishnan, co-founder and CEO of GetInsured. ” It is worrisome that so many are forgoing medical treatment due to cost, and troubling that emergency room visits — among other critical health services — are driving hard-working Nevadans into debt.”
GetInsured has also collaborated with RIP this year to forgive nearly $2 million of medical debt in California and more than $1 million of medical debt in Minnesota.
A total of $15,000 was used to forgive the medical debt in Minnesota and Nevada.
