The next Dragon Age game officially takes place in the Tevinter Imperium and possibly Antiva

The next Dragon Age game still doesn’t have a release window but we’re learning more and more about where it is set. Fans have long expected that we’d be visiting the Tevinter Imperium in BioWare’s next fantasy title but it looks like even more locations could be present.

Confirmation of this setting is given in the BioWare: Stories and Secrets from 25 Years of Game Development book, as spotted by Eurogamer. So, we’ve learned that the next Dragon Age is officially set in the Tevinter Imperium. While this part doesn’t come as a surprise — Tevinter has been widely reported and hinted at as the next setting — the book also includes concept art for Antiva City, capital of Antiva and home of the infamous Antivan Crows assassins.

A recent trailer at the Game Awards 2020 showed some of the environments we can expect to see, as well as the infamous Solas. Some concept art was also shown at EA Play 2020. The Dread Wolf is rising. Back in December 2020, Mark Darrah and Casey Hudson left BioWare. Christian Dailey has stepped in as the new executive producer on Dragon Age, while the creative director remains Matthew Goldman.

In addition to Dragon Age, BioWare is also working on the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition remaster collection, as well as a new Mass Effect game entirely. Both the next Dragon Age and the next Mass Effect will almost certainly be playable on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PS5.
