It’s fair to say that the OnePlus Nord was well-received thanks to its affordable price and a good level of hardware that included the popular Snapdragon 765G chipset, an AMOLED display, and a decent set of cameras. As thoughts turn to its successor, it has been reported that the OnePlus Nord 2, codenamed ‘Denniz‘, will be powered by MediaTek’s recently announced flagship chipset, the Dimensity 1200.
As reported by Android Central, the Nord 2 will sport the new 6nm Dimensity 1200 chip from MediaTek which would mean a substantial boost in processing power as well as 5G dual SIM standby. The switch to a MediaTek chipset would make the Nord 2 the first non-Qualcomm-powered handset by OnePlus and is a big boost to the chipmaker’s efforts to better compete in the mobile segment.
We are probably a while away from the OnePlus Nord 2’s official launch but it would seem that the leakers are on the case, so more details should be forthcoming. As one of the first to sport the Dimensity 1200 chipset, the OnePlus Nord 2 is definitely a handset I’m looking forward to getting my hands on at.
