Having already reviewed and been pleasantly surprised by the budget-minded Realme 7 5G that is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 800 chipset, we’ve been looking forward to learning more about the brand’s upcoming flagship, the GT 5G. Formerly known as the Realme Race, it appears that the Snapdragon 888-powered Realme GT 5G will launch in China on March 4th.

Once it’s announced on March 4th in China, we expect a global release soon thereafter of the flagship that will boast a blisteringly quick 125W fast-charging technology. Realme has already confirmed this, along with the presence of a large 5,000mAh battery and a 6.8-inch display with a 160Hz refresh rate. It’s also thought that there will be an in-display fingerprint reader, a quartet of rear cameras including a 64MP main sensor, and 12GB of RAM with 256GB of built-in storage.

We can expect the Realme GT 5G to launch running Android 11 with Realme UI 2.0 out of the box, and likely be available in glass and vegan leather finishes. All-in-all, it’s shaping up to be an exciting new addition to the smartphone market, especially so if the Realme GT 5G is as aggressively priced as the X50 5G is.

He’s been an Android fan ever since owning an HTC Hero, with the Dell Streak being his first phablet. He currently carries an OPPO Find X2 Pro in his pockets, a Galaxy Tab S5e in his backpack, and thinks nothing of lugging a 17-inch laptop around the world. When not immersed in the world of Android and gadgets, he’s an avid sports fan, and like all South Africans, he loves a good Braai (BBQ).
