The virtual Google I/O 2021 will be held from May 18-20

    Google I/O 2021

2020 was a write-off when it came to Google I/O (and pretty much everything else) thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic which led to the cancelation of the developer conference without the time to organize an online replacement. This year, according to the Google I/O landing page, there will be a virtual event held for fans and press without charge.

That’s right, for the first time ever Google I/O is free for everybody, and if you didn’t bother wasting time trying to crack the code to find out the dates that the virtual event is being held over, don’t worry because we’ve done it for you. Google I/O will be held over May 18th, 19th, and 20th, and will be free for everyone to attend ‘remotely’ without charge. This includes the live sessions as well, giving developers of all levels an equal standing.

While Google I/O 2021 is an online-only event, it’s yet to be determined if it will return to being an in-person event during 2022. As with just about everything right now, it will depend on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic and the success of the ongoing vaccination program.

Besides learning more about Android 12, Chrome OS, and other developmental topics, we may see the unveiling of the Pixel 5a and perhaps the Pixel Buds A that leaked a little earlier this year.

He currently carries an OPPO Find X2 Pro in his pockets, a Galaxy Tab S5e in his backpack, and thinks nothing of lugging a 17-inch laptop around the world. When not immersed in the world of Android and gadgets, he’s an avid sports fan, and like all South Africans, he loves a good Braai (BBQ).
