Allen is hosting a free scavenger hunt game for residents to explore special spots around town.
The mission is simple: Earn points by completing as many activities as possible. The more activities or “missions” participants complete, the more points they earn.
At the end of the month, the team with the most points and the individual with the most points will win prizes, according to a news release.
The team with the most points will be awarded a catered after-hours rental at the Ford Pool for up to 30 people. The individual with the most points will win an Apple Watch.
The game began at 9 a.m. on July 1, but there’s still time to join.
Here’s how to participate:
- Download the GooseChase app on the App Store or Google Play and create an account. The city does not recommend playing in guest mode, as participants might lose progress during the game.
- Find the city’s game by searching for “Allen Adventure Hunt” or using the following code: QEM9W7.
- Join the game using the following password: AllenGoose.
- Decide whether you will create a team or go at it solo. For those who wish to play in groups, the city’s recommended team size is 3-5 players.
- For participants playing in teams, the city suggests creating an access code. This way, teams control who else can join their group on the app.
- Once in the game, participants will see the missions to complete. To complete a mission, select it from the list and click the “snap evidence” button. Each mission is completed using photo or video evidence, text or GPS check-in.
Scavenger hunt guidelines
- Be sure to complete the missions accurately and follow all instructions explicitly.
- To keep track of your team’s progress in the game and to receive notifications from your game’s organizer, use the navigation tabs.
- The game is active from 9 a.m. on July 1 through 5 p.m. on July 31.
- If you have trouble downloading the app, call the city at 214-509-4770 for assistance.
The Allen Adventure Hunt is part of the Discover Life in Allen series happening throughout the month of July.
Winners will be announced the week of Aug. 2.
