Valheim rockets to 5 million copies sold in just a month

In a new update post, Iron Gate Studio, the developer behind the viking-themed survival game Valheim, announced that the game has officially sold 5 million copies on Steam as of March 3, 2021. Considering the game launched on February 2, this means that Valheim has reached this extraordinary milestone in a month’s time.

The developers also included some other interesting stats about how fans have interacted with Valheim. In particular, players have collectively spent 15,000 years playing the game, 35 million hours of gameplay have been watched on Twitch, and Valheim has officially reached number 39 on the highest user-reviewed games on Steam list.

In the post, the developers took some time to reflect on this crazy achievement. “We watch with pride and excitement, and struggle to find the right words to express our gratitude to you, the community,” said Iron Gate. “Exciting new milestones lie ahead, and we for one cannot wait to show you more of the game as we journey through our 2021 Roadmap. May Frey bless you with a plentiful harvest, and may Heimdall watch over your settlement. Oh, and if you see an oversized mosquito, run.”
